Back Pain

At least 80% of people will experience lower back pain at one stage in their lives. Then the reoccurrence rate is 80% after you have had an episode of back pain. The risk of this reoccurring will be reduced if you do specific exercises to strengthen the muscles in your back.

Tips to help prevent back pain:

  • change your working position frequently (even if you wiggle in your chair, walk around your desk, straighten from weeding to pruning)
  • use safe lifting techniques-brace your stomach muscles, bend your knees, don’t twist
  • maintain flexibility
  • keep fit and healthy

At Whittens Physiotherapy Centre you will learn how to lift effectively, brace before lifting and safe work postures. You will also receive comprehensive advice on a broad range of measures you can undertake to maintain your fitness and flexibility.
